Sunwest Communications Embraces Growth with Newest Account Coordinator

Dec. 11, 2018 – Dallas-based public relations agency Sunwest Communications has welcomed its newest full-time employee, account coordinator Shaelyn Stone. After breaking the agency’s record for quickest full-time hire from an intern position, Stone stepped into her new role Monday, Dec. 3.

Stone arrived at Sunwest Communications as an intern in late August, after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in public relations. She came into the internship with a passion and emphasis on the nonprofit sector and has since been an integral part of Sunwest accounts such as The Catholic Foundation, Texas Council on Family Violence and M5M Foundation.

Stone continuously impressed the office with her work ethic, writing abilities and insight for two months before she received a full-time job offer in mid-November.

“I knew within the first two weeks of interning with Sunwest that I wanted to be here for a long time,” Stone said. “I instantly felt welcomed and was pleasantly surprised at how much everyone was interested in my input. Internships where the intern feels like a valuable part of the team are rare, so I knew I’d found a special place to build a career here. Receiving the full-time offer and saying yes was an amazing experience.”

Stone’s previous experience includes internal communications intern for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Austin, where she assisted in managing their social media and Student of the Year Campaign, and public relations intern for Kristy Ozmun Public Relations, where she worked on accounts such as Central Market and the Longhorn Network.

“Our internship program is one of our greatest points of pride at Sunwest,” said Crayton Webb, CEO, Sunwest Communications. “Internships are an invaluable way to learn about our craft and find a cultural fit. In fact, we have a number of current team members who started as interns and have built their careers here. We welcome Shaelyn to the team and look forward to our clients continuing to benefit from her great work.”
