Government Affairs Leader Matt Garcia Joins Sunwest Communications

Public Relations/Public Affairs Firm Continues to Grow Government Affairs Team

DALLAS, Texas (August 1, 2019) – Expanding on the firm’s growing Government Affairs practice, Matt Garcia joins Sunwest Communications as managing advisor of Government Affairs.

A public affairs veteran of nearly a decade, Garcia brings extensive leadership experience to the Sunwest team. Prior to joining Sunwest, he was the director of external affairs for Leon Capital Group and was responsible for creating its public affairs and communications department. Garcia also served as Congressman Pete Sessions’ Chief of Staff of Texas for five years. In this role, he built and maintained strong relationships with elected officials along with business and community leaders.

In his new role, Garcia will work alongside Kerry Tassopoulos and Pete Havel on Sunwest’s Government Affairs team to build strong ties between congressional and legislative leaders and Sunwest clients.

Garcia received his bachelor’s degree from McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. He currently serves the Dallas community though a variety of North Texas organizations including The North Texas Commission, The State Fair of Texas, Texas Exes Dallas Chapter, and Brother Bill’s Helping Hand.
