Sunwest Communications Launches LuncefordWEBB Government Relations

We are so pleased to announce the launch of a new venture within the Sunwest Family – LuncefordWEBB Government Relations.

LuncefordWEBB Government Relations will partner with public, private, and nonprofit organizations across industries, and representatives across the aisles to develop successful, measurable, and insightful strategies.

It will also significantly expand Sunwest’s public affairs presence and expertise with the addition of government relations veteran, Michael Lunceford. Lunceford, along with Sunwest CEO Crayton Webb, will be the operation’s principals.

Michael and Crayton have a deep understanding of the legislative process, how it can impact business, and how business can impact the legislative process. Together, they bring decades of combined experience in government affairs and public relations to clients across industry sectors. The LuncefordWEBB team will help clients build relationships with key stakeholders, influence public opinion and advance policy.

“We believe in helping our clients build relationships with elected officials when times are good,” said Webb. “I’m deeply honored to work with Michael again and excited to see what this new opportunity brings.”

Crayton and Michael worked together for 12 years at Dallas-based cosmetics giant Mary Kay Inc. They are also joined by veteran political consultant and lobbyist, The Hon. Jay Barksdale, who joined Sunwest in 2020.

Michael was responsible for worldwide public affairs for Mary Kay in nearly 40 countries around the world for 41 years before his retirement in February. He has been active in civic affairs, serving on boards in Texas and Washington, D.C., and has served as a political advisor to numerous elected officials. He formerly was a member of the Congressional Award Foundation as an appointee of U.S. Senator Bob Dole and a founding member of the Texas Lyceum.

Prior to Webb’s purchase of Sunwest Communications in 2017, he was VP of Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility for Mary Kay. Previously, Webb served as chief of staff for Dallas Mayor Laura Miller and was a broadcast journalist for 10 years.
