Shiroma Southwest Joins Sunwest Communications

Two prominent Dallas public relations agencies join together to form one strategic communications, public relations and public affairs agency

DALLAS (May 3, 2021) – Two of Dallas’ legacy public relations and communications agencies, Sunwest Communications and Shiroma Southwest, are now operating as one. Sunwest completed its acquisition of Shiroma, marking a new chapter in the history of these storied Dallas-based firms.

Under the new combined structure, Shiroma Southwest founder Mary Shiroma will assume the role of senior counsel and continue to serve as a hands-on strategic leader. Shiroma’s four employees will also join the Sunwest team.

“Mary Shiroma is a legend in the Dallas PR industry for good reason. She has built an incredible firm that is prolific and respected for the public relations strategy, counsel and results it delivers for an impressive client roster,” said Crayton Webb, owner and CEO, Sunwest Communications. “Shiroma’s success is thanks to Mary, and to the experienced team of PR professionals she’s built and developed. I’m proud to welcome the Shiroma team to the Sunwest family and excited for the new growth we’ll be able to accomplish together.”

Founded in 1981, Shiroma Southwest is a full-service communications, public relations and integrated marketing agency with a diverse client portfolio that includes restaurants, retailers, municipalities, commercial real estate developers, hotels, among others. Its team specializes in developing and executing strategic communications plans that integrate media relations, social media, website development, brand development, integrated marketing and influencer relations.

“This new chapter allows us to provide immense value to our clients as we combine Shiroma’s creativity and expertise with Sunwest’s resources, leadership and experience,” said Mary Shiroma, founder Shiroma Southwest. “We look forward to working together to deliver elevated, creative communications solutions for our clients.”

In the new merged firm structure, clients and account teams will remain the same, ensuring a seamless transition of the Shiroma team into the Sunwest culture. The Shiroma team will move into the Sunwest office later this year.

“Growing Sunwest in a way that brings added experience and resources to our team and clients has long been a dream of mine. Together, our combined team will be well positioned to serve our clients with added expertise, expanded resources and greater capacity,” added Webb. “Beyond an alignment in services and practice areas, Sunwest and Shiroma share a similar corporate culture grounded in family, values and integrity.”

Sunwest clients vary from international oil and gas corporations to real estate, finance, direct selling, technology, education, family foundations and numerous consumer products companies.
