The Importance of Social Media Influencers
August 4, 2019
Hi everyone. Crayton Webb, Owner and CEO of Sunwest Communications here with Two Minutes of Advice today from Sunwest. Today we’re going to talk about influencers and why you might use a social media influencer to help take your brand, or company, or organization to the next level. Three reasons. One: Reach. Two: Effectiveness. And three: Cost. Let’s talk about reach first. A lot of these influencers have thousands, if not tens of thousands or more of followers on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn in some cases. So they can reach the very audience that you or your brand is trying to get to. Second: effectiveness. These influencers have a lot of just that – influence with the same folks that you are trying to get to. That same audience. A recent study by CivicScience.com found that 34% of Instagram users and 25% of Facebook users actually made a purchase because of a recommendation by one of these influencers. And third is cost. A lot of brands – Lincoln, with Matthew McConaughey; Avon, with Reese Witherspoon – use celebrity endorsers or celebrity spokespeople not just for their advertising but in some cases, their corporate social responsibility or cause-related marketing programs. And they find that’s a great way to get a lot of traditional PR attention. But also the idea is to influence your buying strategy, or your consumer’s buying strategy. It’s extremely expensive to do so, and often times working with an influencer who has a large following on social media can be a lot less expensive and you can see the impact a lot faster through buying online than you can necessarily from a multi-million dollar celebrity and how well a commercial actually impacts your sales. And that’s Two Minutes of Advice from Sunwest Communications. Have a great day.
